There are two things I love, other than food of course, beer and margaritas. So when I saw, back in April, Bud Light was coming out with a Lime-a-Rita, I went on an immediate search to find out how I could get my greedy little hands on one. Unfortunately I could not locate any place that carried the beverage, until now.
Last Saturday I was scrolling through my Instagram feed and ran across not one but two local IG’ers Lime-a-Rita pics. Honey, when you talk about doing a whoop whoop, grabbing my keys, and rounding up my mister…well that is exactly what I did. After running into Kroger and Publix, and finding with dismay not one Lime-a-Rita in sight, I was ready to turn in the towel. Then my husband suggested I check a local package store (liquor store for those of you not in the South). I was reluctant to go on another wild goose chase, but as soon as we walked into the store my husband told me, “There is your precious!” The precious reference being from the Lord of the Rings, think on it and you’ll get it. *wink*
I’m not going to lie, I balked at the price tag and size of the Lime-a-Ritas. It’s $12.99 for a 12-pack of 8 oz. cans. Granted that’s about the price of a 12 pack of beer, but not the price of a 12-pack of 8 oz. bottles. Regardless, I was on a mission and I forked my money over.
Once I arrived home I broke out a glass and poured the precious over ice. I noticed right away that there was a great amount of froth sitting at the top of my cup, and that the color and consistency of the liquid was definitely that of a margarita.
As soon as I took my first sip I busted out into a tootsie roll in the kitchen! I heard it was good, but it was tootsie roll worthy. Bud Light Lime-a-Rita is light, smooth, not too sweet, has the perfect amount of saltines, and packs a punch. Actually it’s not a beer or a margarita, but a malt beverage. I know I know, I rolled my eyes too. When I think of a malt beverage I think of an OE (Old English), and that is soooo “Menace II Society” 1993. However, it is 8% alcohol by volume while most beers are 5% by volume. In mathematical terms that essentially means getting more bang for your buck. After one can I could see why it comes in a 12-pack of 8 ounces and cost $12.99. It’s definitely a smooth one hitter quitter.
Bud Light Lime-a-Rita is available in 12-packs of 8 oz. cans, 24-packs of 12 oz. bottles and single-serve 24 oz. cans. An 8 oz. can is 220 calories. Visit Bud Light for more information and to locate where you can purchase one today.
Drop me a line and let me know if you tried a Lime-a-Rita yet and what you think of it!
XOXO, Miss Foodie Fash!
